THE FOREST CAMP
[ Valencia, Dumaguete City ]

On our last day in Dumaguete, we checked out early from Antulang Beach Resort and drove to The Forest Camp to check out their facilities.

Owned by the Vicunas [ Florante & Melba ], Forest Camp is located eleven kilometers west of Dumaguete in Valencia Town. The 2.2-hectare facility is an oasis of natural wonders and offers the best in outdoor experiences like nature and adventure treks to Casaroro and Mount Talinis, camping, and horseback riding among others.

Moi by the river.

Apart from two large nipa guesthouses, a treehouse, four cottages, a dormitory, and a backpackers’ den, it also has a conference hall, a campers’ site, and a pool fed by natural waters cascading down Mount Talinis. The backpackers’ den can accommodate up to 10 people, while the dormitory holds up to 20 students. Its main hall can accommodate up to 250 people and may be resrved for private functions like conferences or wedding receptions.

We only spent about 30 minutes at the Forest Camp, as it was quite crowded and I was rather exhausted. Actually, this was one of the last places I saw during my visit to Negros Oriental. I was a bit disappointed that I wasn’t able to get a better look at Mt. Talinis, but perhaps next time. Anyway, these photos really bring out the lush foliage of the grounds there.

As a funny aside, I remember that we nearly coasted all the way back to Dumaguete on my lady friend’s motorcycle. I guess that’s a good way to save on gas :) It seems as if we rolled down the incline for miles.
